I've had this penny for a while; finally decided to see if its rare or not. Its a 1977 penny with what I believe is called a cud error caused by a damaged die. It has a "blotch" of copper covering the words 'In God'. The rest of the penny seems to be in fine condition. Does anyone know how common this sort of mistake is? I havn't been able to find much help elsewhere, any feedback is greatly appreciated!! (sorry about picture quality)

Nice cud. As for value, I've seen these go for a couple bucks, IMO $6 max

That is a wicked cud mrsmith. I can't comment on value because I do not collect errors. That is a large cud for sure though. Someone who collects these can give you a better idea on value. It;s all about what they are willing to pay :)

    No.

This cud would fall into the category of 'Athiest Cent' because the cud is in the area of 'IN GOD' of the motto.

I'm sorry, what do you mean by certed?

    Lincoln Cents Cents not pennies

He means graded by a third party grading service, such as PCGS (google PCGS and you will see what I mean.) The obverse has nice eye appeal, but it is not worth the cost to get it graded.

Not worth spending all that money, time, and energy on slabbing.
