1995 penny that was stamped with Lincoln's head on both sides.

I have read the doubled die 1995 penny stuff. But I have a 1995 penny that looks like it was stamped on both sides. Lincoln's head is not so clear on the second side but it is there and the Memorial building is definitely clear on both sides.

    Any comments?

Photos! We need photos! (And weigh the coin to the nearest 0.01 grams if you can.)

Thank-you. I understand. Have you ever heard of such a penny?

Without photos we can only guess what it may be.

It could be a flip-over double-struck coin. That could be somewhat valuable.

It could be a magician's coin. (Search the forums here on Coin Talk for an explanation of what a magician's coin is.) That would be essentially worthless.

It could be a squeeze job where a coin is squeezed between two other coins to make what appears to be a genuine error coin to the uninitiated. That would be worthless.

yes. If Lincoln's head on the reverse is indented, most likely it is PMD- post mint damage and not collectible. If it is raised, is Lincoln facing the right way or is it a mirrored image? Also, when people see this they are often times fooled by glue. (Like 2 pennies were glued, came apart, and one had glue on it still that kept the image of the other.) You could still post a pic or 2 though, for practise if nothing else. Close up pics are frustrating.... just wait till you think you got a doubled die!! Pics will drive you crazier than not knowing about your coin, when you are learning Click here to enlarge

Interesting replies. Lincoln is facing the opposite way on the reverse side. Also, the reverse side is raised up, but understand it is just a silhouette, no facial detail. If I take something, even my nail and move from the outside toward it, I encounter a barrier, so at least the edge of the head is raised. The Memorial is raised on both sides....or just stamped very hard to make it so on the head side. Does that make sense to one which may have been glued? Maybe squeezed?

Even good pictures may not show relief would they? Mine, of course, is not a wheat penny. But you know that. Okay, I just scraped off glue on the head side and it looks like a normal penny on that side. The Memorial side may have tougher glue as I still have the silhouette of the head. But it probably is glue. If not, I'll post again or reply to the both of you. Thank-you so much for your quick replies.

First of all, you should start a new thread, not revive a dead one with a similar subject. Secondly, and much more importantly, your out-of-focus uncropped picture is absolutely worthless for identification purposes.

If you want valid opinions start with a clear photo, cropped to eliminate all the extraneous surroundings, and large enough to show the detail you are inquiring about.

When enlarged your picture is just a blur.
Ethical conduct is being honest when no one is watching.
