Dimeguy, thanks for posting those two wonderful mercs. Is the 1919 also an 'S' mint? It appears to me to be fairly far away from the leaf and much closer to the rim. 1919 is not listed for having a micro 'S' but could it be?

Nope the 1919 is a D. I don't think the '19 has a micro S. I'll dig out my 1919 S (can't recall if it's VF or XF) and post it later on today so as to spur discussion on the mint mark location. Took me so long to find the 1919 D and the '25 S in XF or better so quite proud of the two little buggers. Still sitting curled in the corner petting the edges of the 2X2's and whispering, "My precious!"
As promised here is my 1919 S. Got to love the dirty look of a beautifully designed coin! I don't think there is any significance to its mint mark location or size, Zeke, but see for yourself and feel free to offer any opinion.
Almost every Merc I purchase these days is FB. It's just tough to see because I shoot freehand for now. Ordering a copy stand later in the week...
A copy stand will definitely help you take 'FB' for merc's and 'FS' shots for Jefferson nickles

I never realized how narrow the field of focus is on a macro lens until I tried taking some pics with one, it's ridiculous.
Anyone ever tried taking pictures of small dark coins? Not the easiest...
