| Open Forum posting
I noticed I could not post or answer in that forum. The rules say I needed over10 posts in other places. I have a little over 1,000. Does that count? Is there some secret I don't know of?

Were you trying to make an initial post, or a response?
Therre's no reason that the system shouldn't allowe an initial posting (subject to the one per week limit).
Responses to Open and Auction forum posts are to be made by PM or e-mail, so threads are automatically closed after the initial posting.

OK so I'm old or someting but I just don't get it. The open forum is not really an OPEN forum. It is in reality a BUY AND SELL forum, true? An OPEN forum would indicate anything can be there. Then there is the confusion as to POST REPLY. Take for instance the post that says RED BOOK. At the top and bottom, left side, of that post is says "POST REPLY". Yet at the bottom left it states "you can not post replies"
In the instructions on OPEN forum it does NOT state you have to answer all post via email or PM. Where is that stated or is it to be just guessed at?
So from what I gather here I can add a post in the OPEN forum but not for just anything. It has to be a buy or sell item. I can not reply to the post for some unknown reason but I can send an email or PM to the poster, correct? This means the poster could recieve numerous repititious replies by PM's?

I just noticed I can not edit my last reply here either.
Also, I just found out I do not know how to use a PM thing either.

To edit your reply you need to click on the EDIT button in the bottom right hand side of your post.
To send a PM click on the members name that you want to send it to--such as yours right beside that little green dot by your name---a meun will pop down and you will see something like send JustCarl a Private Message---click on that and it will take you to a page with like an email box--type your message there and hit send.

| I really doubt that we can do anything about that as it is the forum software.... Quote: |

| Like I said---this is something new that has just been done lately---you see we have always asked that when making any deal or telling someone you want the item or making an offer that you do that by PM or email---many times members didn't do that and it left us Mod's with the job of editing/asking them to do it the right way---after alot of that Peter decided that it might be a good idea to fix it this way. | Right---I really doubt that the poster is going to get alot of PM's---that part of the forum has never been really busy with only a few people watching it alot.

Carl - If Peter were able to please everyone all the time he would be some kind of superhuman being.
Managing a forum like this is a balancing act, and IMHO Peter does a darn good job staying on the high wire. Each member would probably handle some aspect of CoinTalk differently, but they stick around because on the whole they like the way it operates. Frankly, I think that includes you.
One purpose of this particular sub-forum is to get member feedback including gripes and suggestions for change. Nevertheless, the final decisions rest with the owner of the site and once a member has expressed his/her thoughts on a specific aspect, it serves no purpose to make repetitive postings on the matter.

Roy,
When I try to post I get a v-bulletin but that only happens in the open forum everywhere else I can post with no problem at all.

Do you get it whenever you try to post there, or only when making a second post within a week, or attempting to respond to someone else's post?
