Detroit Coin Show 08-26

Went yesterday to the show. Bone, you would of loved this one. They had more BHD's than I have ever seen at a show. I think there were more O's in one showcase than a box of Cheerios!. Franklins.. WOW, Speedy, You would be proud, I picked up two just because they caught my eye. (One was a 60D!.. ya I know. HUH...) The other was a 50D.

Morgans galore. Not alot of key coins though and that kind of surprised me, I bet there wasnt a dozen SVDB's in the house. Something you would think every dealer would have at a show this size. Nobody had a decent 86S Morgan. Why I am having trouble locating those I have no idea.

Ancients. One dealer there was selling nothing but. Had thousands of them.

Got to meet Ken Potter, really nice guy, spent some time with me talking about errors and what they are doing for the hobby. Also the gentleman that does the photos for Heritage was there. Dont recall his name but remembered his occupation, bad I know. I spent my time with him wondering what he has seen through his lens. ~~~~~ dreaming ~~~~~

Also spent some time with Ray Balsbaugh, He authored the MoneyBucks Handbook for Minting errors and Die Varieties. Nice guy. Ya, I bought his book and he autographed it for me. He told me to keep it in my barn, his picture is on it and it will keep the mice at bay. Decent book, however photos are all B&W.

Show was ok, a few dealers there that were out of their element and it was obviosu, the usual silver/Gold sharks. I will give you........ you all nkow the rest.

Attendance was good. HEY, I even noticed alot of younger people there! Kids and Young adults. That was a nice switch!

Also noticed some of the dealers showing off alot of bling. One looked like he had just robbed Mr. T..... Is that the norm now at the shows?

Anyway there is the BOOK on the Detroit show.
