Dear Anyone:
I am new to coin collecting. I bought some quarter rolls in an auction and they are bank rolls. Some of the rolls have the reverse visible at both ends. This means I cannot see the mint mark. Should I open these rolls to look at one coin? And then replace the coin, or should I repackage the roll in a plastic sleeve?

Howdy mmadis - Welcome to the Forum !!

The answer to your question kind of depends on what you want to do with the coins. First of all, if they are bank rolls, then you may very well have rolls of mixed dates and mint marks and the coins may very well be circulated. If so then they have no particular value and there is no reason not to open them.

What exactly did you think you were buying ? How were the rolls advertised in the auction - did they say the coins were uncirculated ? Did they say they were supposed to be of a particular date and mint ? Or did they just say they were bank rolls ?

Hi and welcome to our forum as for me I always open all rolls and search through them . You never know what you will find in rolls you could find silver or errors.
