How do I get a numismatic education

The ANA offers many great courses in quite a few areas of numimatics. I highly recommend them.

Learning from an experienced collector or a dealer is another way of gaining some education in numismatics. You don't necessarily have to go back to school to do this.

Along with your own library of numismatic publications. Its always a good idea to invest in some good books on the subject.

A Guide book of United States Coins (Red Book)

Cherrypickers Guide to Rare Die Varieties of U.S. Coins

ANA Grading Standards for U.S. Coins or

Photograde, whichever you prefer, or both

Krause Standard Catalog of World Coins or

Any book that focuses on your area of interest. These are just a few of the books that I personally own that I believe are essential.

ND has had health problems and as far as I know hasn't been on any forum for some time. I think he still does the shows and such but from what I hear has backed off quite a bit.

If you are collecting Canadian coins, you can always read 'Coins of Canada' by J.A. Haxby & R.C. Willey or the Charlton catalogues as well as Krause.
