I need help about coins that i have no idea of

Hi all,

Recently i have a friend that told me about this company GoldQuest / QuestNet which is a numismatic company but i checked their website and the price of their coins are so much more higher priced then current gold price. Its 300% highers price for some coins.

Have anyone heard about this company? Are they really collectors coins or are they up to no good?

The website is www.quest.net and www.goldquest.com
Quest.net have the prices.

And so far i have not seen their product being sold by any other large coin firm apart from company related to goldquest/questnet. And i'm abit sceptical about their coins. But still i no next to nothing about these.

Will someone please point me to the right direction?

Thank you so much.

Yes, they are top class "scammers" who put insane prices on their numismatic products. Please kindly visit your local dealers and make some comparison.

Run away, as fast as you can - and forget about them.

If I were to write what I think about people such as these I would be " edited " by the moderator of the forum so I guess you get the picture .

I know it sounds like Gold Unlimited which is from US years ago but does these coins have any collectors value to them at all?

This is alarming as they are moving in to my country and i worry for others who might be dupe/scam by them.

Thank you to all who have responded.

Well, let's think for a minute - pick one of the coins. How about the "Dome of the Rock with Crystal Coin". Here are the specs -

Diameter : 65 mm
Weight : 5.00 oz
Content : Fine Silver 999/- with Swarovski Fabric and Green Swarovski Component
Quality : Proof
Edge : Milled
Issue Year : 2005
Limited Mintage : 17777
Denomination : 20000 Shillings
Issuing Authority : Central Bank of Somali Republic
Series : Holy Landmarks of Islam

So we have a coin with 5 oz of silver - intrinsic value about $65. Then we have a green crystal - it's not an emerald, it's a crystal - intrinsic value, maybe $10.

Now then - the asking price, $620.00 US with a shipping and handling fee of an additional $60.00 US. That's $680 for something that is worth less than $100.

So even if it has some collector's value - I don't think it's gonna be quite that much. And I'd have to like the design a WHOLE LOT to get $600 worth of collector value.
