    prooflike seated liberty halfs?

I was at my dad's house yesterday, and he had a seated liberty half graded ms-60 (old holder from PCGS), however it looked like a proof to me. I know sometimes morgan dollars are pl but does this ever happen with the seated liberty halfs?

There should be PL coins in all series' since the first coins off new dies should be prooflike. I think PCGS only gives the PL designation to Morgans. If it is graded MS-60, then it sounds like it has a lot of bagmarks.

it does have a few bagmarks, however I believe by today's standards it would grade a 63. It's in one of the old rattler holders, annd looks quite nice.

there are some known prooflike seated halves.

Here is one on eBay that is an NGC64PL.

There have been a few others listed in the past couple of months as well. All the ones that I've seen for sale that are PL are 1880 and later, but I'm sure that there are some before that too.

The short answer is yes, there are prooflike seated halves. While not impossible, I doubt PCGS mislabeled it...Mike
