Hello Everyone...

Just wanted to say hello.
Was surfing and found this site. Good to know there are MANY other coins junkies.
I have been keeping coins for SEVERAL years now. A few years ago I was forced to start my collection over again due to a thieft of several collections. Anyway, which I may add is times 4 because when I add coins I must add for 4 boys.

Alright enough of that let me go gander around and see whats going on.

Dan Mendoza

Thanks for the welcome.
Problem with safe is.... Mine is way, way over full..
Been parting with some to make room for more.
When this happen they took what they could grab misc. boxs in closet and had NO luck with safe.
5 foot safe BOLTED to the floor and back wall. They tried but no luck. We were out of town and the house sitter slacked. Left dog outside??? She was cleared though. Yet fired.

The safe is a gun type safe. An olddie but goodie. Which proved VERY, VERY affective because they tried to pry / beat / move budge yet not a knick was left on it. Where I took the loss was the boxs of misc. coins - albums that the kids / I tend to play with the most. The kids are always trying to get dad to cut up a set or 2 for them to use in there books. The worst was a COMP collection of Franklins that about 70% were choice MS 64+ coins. THAT HURT !!
Though I am pleased to say I am now 2 coins away from RE-assembling another CHOICE set. Of Mostly ms65 - proof. with the exception of a few I haven't found in real good shape.

Since then though a second safe was added to assure NOTHING is left out period. Use to keep alot at safety deposit box but that was a pain everytime you wanted to put away / look at or add a new coin.
There was was a witness though: Read
I think my dog remembers though because, when we got home the screen porch was crashed in were he busted through trying to get inside the house. The slider to my room had to be replaced from were he just clawed it to hell trying to get into my bedroom from the porch. We returned late that even front door was open were they left, when we got into the room and let the dog in he was running through the house as if looking for them.
The only witness and he won't talk.??

Same problem here, I’ve started making room by moving the less valuable items (lower value proof sets, wheat cent rolls etc) to my secondary hiding place.
My safe with all the contents must weigh 400-500 lbs., so no one person could possibly hope to move it.
Sorry to hear about the brake in, it’s reassuring to know they couldn't crack your safe, but losing that Franklin set must have hurt.

My original safe was a small 3x3 which one day just couldn't hold anymore. I had small one that sat caddy corner from the large one(s) and they NEVER even looked at it.??? Little did they know that one was NOT bolted and could have easly been carried away with 2 - 3 people. Little bugger had a stash of 12 silver bars and a few small gold bars along with just a bunch of scrap gold and silver. Though I think they would not have made it far with a safe. Secondary stash area.. no, no, They NEVER looked under the bed. LOLOL....
Needless to say that it was retired and the second larger one put in it's place.
Live and learn......

I've been wanting to get one of the large gun safes thats supposed to hold like 18 Rifles on one side and like 4 shelves on the other...

Besides money to pay for it, my concern is moisture or the climate inside the safe causing discoloration of my collections...

Some are in Airtites, a lot are in 2x2s, some in various slabs, some rolls, a bit of everything....

I figured one shelf for each of the following

Boxes of coins in 2x2s and Slabs
Proofs/Mints
Commemoritives and Albums
Bullion (Bars and Rounds)

You can solve that problem with silica gel packs
