Should there be a separate forum for bullion?

I just wanted to get a feel for everyone's opinion on this. I've had several people contacting me about the threads on bullion topics, and am wondering if it's time to set up a separate section for the guys who want to talk bullion.

    I think it makes sense....

Some of us like to talk Bullion and Scream out the latest Spots on AG and AU everytime it changes...

Some have mentioned they are sick of hearing about it.... So I say make a section, if people want a scoop, they'll go get it, if they don't they'll pass....

Waste of space. To many forums makes it difficult to find anything. Eventually there would be forums for every subject. Bullion could be in Miscellaneous or General.

I've got investments in bullion, so am quite interested in the topic. But when I come to a numismatic discussion forum I don't really want to be bombarded with hourly updates on the price of silver. I think it would be nice if we could offload all that to its own forum.

Only because some hate silver/gold talk and some love it. Add to that the exciting times we are now in with prices skyrocketing and I say YES.

No. Bullion coins are just another denomination/type of coin. There are enough forums already to click through. As long as people identify the thread with a good title, it isn't really necessary.

Cloud, I would agree with that if bullion coins were all that people were talking about. However, it's the constant bullion commodities tickers out there that drive me crazy, and spitting out the ever-changing prices for gold and silver is not a discussion of the coins that are made from them. So, I suggest that these kinds of discussions regarding bullion either be directed to the General Discussion forum or should be given their own forum where they don't bother the rest of us. I do agree with the concept that less forums is better, but this is a catch 22.

Personally, I'm for giving the tickers a home to keep the numismatic forums clear. I find it interesting, particularly now that my job sits me 10 feet from a metals trading floor, but I'm here to share, learn about, and discuss coins, not spot prices and speculations.

The Opt in forums for off topic threads worked very well for clearing political debates and such from the coin forums and giving the forum community an accepted outlet for other topics.....a bullion forum should work just as well.

I agree that the commodity price tracking comments belong in the General Discussion forum. Bullion coin discussions can stay in the existing coin forums.

You could be right Peter, as I'm one of those who think along the lines of what Bengal's oppinion of the subject seemed to be. I don't believe its the place of your forum to have a special section for Bullion. All this talk about bullion coins, commodities tickers, changing prices and investments are nothing more than pure speculation. It is my oppinion that this has absolutely nothing or very little to do with 'coin collecting'.
So if you want a separate section for this garbage, put it on the Coin World forum, or some other place. Don't contaminate this forum with such nonsense. (That may have been a little strong, but I don't have much in common with anyone who is in the collecting of coins with speculation on their mind. Sorry about that.)

I for one would agree with OldDan if there was a bullion section and the only thing discussed would be what is and what do you think the price would be. Very limited scope at best. However, if the bullion section included designed bullion bar photo's, designed bullion coins from around the world, the best bullion dealer's listings for various types of bullion, etc...then the subject might have some "weight" for its own forum.

Maybe some sort of real-time price tracker instead if that is even possible. That would be cool. Click here to enlarge

I Don't think it would hurt to have a bullion forum, the topic can get a little one-dimensional but with the metals market being so volatile people are going to be posting on spot metals regardless.
Why not give it a forum of it's own and spare the pure coin collectors who are tired of all the bullion posts.
like it or not the subjects of metal prices and coin values are closely related.
The idea of a price ticker is interesting.

kitco.com offers them. I have one on my personal homepage.

I would also enjoy a bullion forum.
