Sacagawea $1

Real Gold Sacagawea $1

Know how a lot of non-collectors will hoard the "golden dollars" thinking they contain real gold ? Well, some of them do. But the public isn't going to get their hands on any of them as they are safely locked away - all 12 of them. In the article the link leads to it will say that the coins were removed and taken to Fort Knox, they were. But it was later announced that the coins were removed from Fort Knox and taken to an undisclosed location. To date - the US Mint isn't saying where that is.

The Sacky/Washington Mule

"New Mexico collector Tommy Bolack is so enamored with the mule error coin with the State quarter dollar obverse and Sacagawea dollar reverse that he's obtained five specimens, including two recently acquired pieces that were previously unreported."

The Cheerios Dollar

"In February 2005, a full five years after it's release, Sacagawea Dollar patterns have been discovered in the hands of lucky collectors. This amazing discovery has been found in what was formerly known as Cheerios Dollars. The term "amazing discovery" may be an understatement. Even the people at NGC state: "This is unquestionably one of the most intriguing new finds in the annals of modern coinage. The fact that they are just now being recognized, five years after their release, is surprising to many experts."

Counterfeit Sackies

"As many as 1 million bogus Sacagawea dollars were produced and distributed by a sophisticated Colombian counterfeiting operation flooding Ecuador's inflation-ridden economy before Colombian national police and the U.S. Secret Service shut down the facility earlier this year."
