Money - Museums Of The World

The following links will lead you to some of the world's greatest collections - those held by museums. Some of the museums have somewhat limited on-line catalogs available while with others the catalogs are immense. Visiting them can not only be educational, it can be downright fun.

Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow

"Barter to Euro - The Story of Coinage"

"This project traces the development of coinage in Europe from its invention in Greece over 2,500 years to the introduction of the new Euro coins. Drawing on the Hunterian Collection, it includes coins from ancient Greece and Rome through to medieval and modern Europe."

Clicking on the picture of each coin leads to information about that particular coin. There are two sets of links that can be followed each with different results.
