Angry lewis and clark proof dollar

could somebody please explain or give me an opinion on the lewis and clark proof dollar and pouch sets that are going to be released in september? what is up with the 120.00 price tag. i thought they were gold or something....

These sets are being issued in, 7 I believe, different pouches that were hand made by various Native American tribes which had contact with Lewis & Clark. The sets will be limited to 50,000.

That's why the cost. Of course that is all explained on the Mint's site at the link you provided - just click on More Info

It will be interesting to see how the secondary market plays out for the sets with the hand-made pouches. I can see why the cost up front is high (I hope the Native Americans who make these are getting a cut), but I am skeptical as to whether they will hold thier value. I don't recall there being any precedent for this.

hm... i thought it was 130 dollars

anyway, 120 is too much for a proof set.

im just taking the bicentennial set as an example

this set did not do anywhere near as well as was predicted

i imagine the same case with the L&c set, as well
