Am not really familiar with Russian coins but the 1825 Constantine Ruble is famous. Seems that seven pieces exist; one was auctioned in New York in 2004 and brought $525,000 ... and Russian coins are apparently sought after these days.
As for coins from my country (Fed. Rep. Germany), well, the first ones were made in 1950. And most pieces are relatively inexpensive. The 5 DM coin 1958J goes up to €5,000 in excellent (BU) condition, and you pay about €4,000 for the proof version of the first commem (1952). As for "Germany" in a broader historic sense, there is the Brandenburg Portugalöser (10 Dukaten) 1584, for example, that fetched about €200,000 eight years ago.
