Am not really familiar with Russian coins but the 1825 Constantine Ruble is famous. Seems that seven pieces exist; one was auctioned in New York in 2004 and brought $525,000 ... and Russian coins are apparently sought after these days.

As for coins from my country (Fed. Rep. Germany), well, the first ones were made in 1950. And most pieces are relatively inexpensive. The 5 DM coin 1958J goes up to €5,000 in excellent (BU) condition, and you pay about €4,000 for the proof version of the first commem (1952). As for "Germany" in a broader historic sense, there is the Brandenburg Portugalöser (10 Dukaten) 1584, for example, that fetched about €200,000 eight years ago.

I think the last time it was up for sale the bid was $9 million and it was rejected as being too low. You might have to wait a bit for that one spock.

never sold , because the staff of the Central Bank of Switzerland , the current owner , had heard that India will sue the sellers , in order to get the coin because the coin was robbed from India during history. So the auction was stoped after reaching 10 MILLION DOLLARS and the coin was buried again in Swiss Bank cellar.
