Thread: 1856-O $20 Liberty

Coin World has a lead article this week on the discovery of a $20 Liberty rarity--the 1856-O. I enjoyed the article and the coin looks high end for the picture on the front cover. Apparently it has not been graded yet.

Huge find. From what I can see of the image, it's a really nice one, too.

Like a story line out of a fairy tale. Acquiring a '56-O or '54-O $20 is to the New Orleans Double Eagle enthusiast what acquiring an 1804 silver dollar is to a silver dollar enthusiast.

The coin is being run in the Long Beach auction by Heritage:

It turns out the coin graded XF45.
