I am going up north next month to get the rest of my silver collection. I am sure I have a few more Liberty Dollars. This may have been answered before but would NGC or PCGS even grade these?

I wouldn't consider an auction price with 9 days left to go "final" enough to render judgement as a "collapsed" market. Now if this were a completed auction, then I might buy your logic.... How about we revisit this when the auction closes and we see what it sells for?

Yep Juan, thanks for posting the link; I'm gonna bid on that sweet lookin' coin for sure. I figure I can go about $150 max.

Now $70.00 and still nine days to go. I'm thinking this baby may exceed $200. Oops... sorry Juan.

Geez, guys. I'll keep my two samples - 10 & 20. I never saw them as counterfit - cripes, look at the 'tribute proof' gold buffalos on TV. What got him hammered was his stated intention to offer them up in lieu of the coin of the realm [read: he spit in the man's face and peed on his shoes.]. Man, it's like having a tax protest and going public with it. The man is going to step all over your dumbness. Is their prosecution right? I don't think so and believe the courts will rule against the DOJ. But look at the 1933 Sts. . . . WTF knows.

As for someone donating the proceeds to repubican candidates this past election was summed up as being one of the greatest fleecing of conservative america by the conservative media machine. Abelson ponied up what $200M? I know that Moroun spnet $34M to try to stop a competetive bridge.

    And so it goes,

    peace,

Wouldn't a private/secret protest be a waste of time and effort? Just asking. :smile

I'm certain it'll sell for at least $200 and I hope blanco is around to see it happen. Maybe the sale will enlighten him with the reality that von Nothauses coins are still being sold at a nice premium. :D

I agree with Dave Gillie: the 'Gold KING Kalakaua' is among the very rarest AND it's the most beautiful of the NorFeds.

Correction: the unplated version sold for $200. in November, 2012. The Gold-plated version typically sells ~2x the unplated version. The Gold-plated version sold for $404.99 (29 Bids) on Monday Nov-19-2012 and another for $455. (35 Bids) on Tuesday Nov-20-2012 :

As such, because Norfeds sell at ~2x Spot (waaaaay down from the Peak) this cherry SHOULD realize 3-4x Spot. A good price is ~$90. ; upper end, ~$120.
That's only a quarter of its price, just 2 months ago. The coin-value? Cratered.
