How to find the cool finds.

Here is a little trick that the staff and I use.

We carry our loupes around our neck using an ANA lanyard.

Many a cashier will see the ANA logo and ask if we collect coins. The others ask what the ANA is. We use this to inform them that we are dealers and that we are always looking for coins and currency.

Make up a few business cards that tell others you are looking for coins. They don't have to be fancy.
Spread the word everywhere you go. Visit these same places every week. Give them a wheat cent as a token of your appreciation. Use a 2x2 to put your name and phone number on. On the top of the 2x2 write that you are looking for coins.
Make a standard offer of 3 times face for any old coin. It is very hard to go wrong with this formula.

Good luck!

My Mood:
Another good way is to make friends at the banks.
I did and got a red $5 bill and have gotten silver half dollars (90% and 40%) too.
In the town I live in it might not be too good of an idea to tell pople that you're a collector of coins....Enough said.

The tellers at our local bank in Dover has my business card taped to their adding machines. So when the unusual comes in, they only have to pick up the phone.
Make sure you take care of the people that take care of you.
This also works with the state quarters. You would be surprised with the odd coins and currency that shows up at banks.
