I have a 1974 Mothers Day Ceeco Silver bar and was wondering if anyone knew of any useful sites that I can use to do a bit of research on about it. Thanks for any help :) Will try to upload a pic of it soon.

It is probably a painted (enameled) silver art bar. I have seen several Ceeco Mint painted (enameled) bars at local coin shows in the past and they look nice IMO. Most of the Ceeco that are holiday themed (Ex: Easter, Labor Day, etc) Ceeco bars as well as the Mother Day, Fathers Day, Christmas, etc are more than likely painted silver art bars.

There is a 5th edition silver art bar price guide by Archie Kidd called "The Indexed Guide Book of Silver Art Bars" that you can buy on ebay (or elsewhere) but that guide book can be very hard to find and expensive ($150-$200) once you find it. I think that the last price that I saw for this 5th edition silver art bar guide book on ebay was BIN price of $185.

Here are a couple of web links that I found that will give you some information for Ceeco silver art bars.

You can also do an ebay search of "Ceeco silver bars" and get an idea in the description about them. By doing an ebay search of "Ceeco silver bars", you will also get an idea of what prices that certain Ceeco silver art bars will go for on ebay. When you do this, it is best to look at the actual winning auction bids and not the BIN prices because the BIN prices are priced too high to begin with.

Thanks for the great reply and tips. The bar I have isn't actually painted, the top half has a raised oval Cameo on it (Slightly smaller than a dime) with some silver embellishment around it, the bottom half has "With Love On Mothers Day. May 12, 1974".

Thanks for that description of that art bar. I learn something new about silver art bars and that is the enjoyable part of the hobby of collecting silver art bars. I will admit that I have not seen that particular Ceeco Mint bar before. That is interesting. There are some other Ceeco Mint bars that are not painted (enameled). Most of the Ceeco Mint bars that I have seen were minted in the years 1973 and 1974.

1973 and 1974 seem to be the most popular years that silver art bars were minted. Ceeco was one of the many private mints back that were minting silver art bars in the 1970's.

I only have a couple of Ceeco Mint bars in my art bar collection but they are not painted and they are not holiday themed art bars.

Here is what those two Ceeco art bars that I have look like:

I was able to take a pic of the bar (albeit not a very good one). Thought you may want to see. As you can see it has some oxidation around the edges. I love your Silver Bars. They look like they are in excellent shape.

That is the first time that I saw this particular Ceeco silver art bar and it is a very interesting find. I like the oval cameo and that is IMO the best feature of this silver art bar. The picture looks good to me.

As for my two Ceeco Mint bars that I currently have in my silver art bar collection, both of them were in good shape when I bought them and they still are in good shape. I take them out and look at them every once in a while to admire the art work. The "W.C. Fields" Ceeco bar is the better of the two IMO but the "Woman's Lib." bar is not a bad art bar.

Yeah, from what I have seen of other Ceeco bars, the Cameo seems to make it a bit unique as I haven't found ones like this in my search. Yours are unique and great finds, both are very interesting
