I have in my possesion what I believe is a Venetian gold ducat.
    1. Can someone confirm that assertion?
    2. Can someone date the coin?
    3. Value, anyone?

    Thanks,
    Amit

Sure, they're ducats but are they real is the question here. Welcome to the forum. Someone will be around in a bit to give you the full story I'm sure of it. :D

Your coin is indeed a Venetian ducat and I'm pretty dang sure it's genuine. It was issued by the Doge Michele Steno 1400-1413. It is made of .986 gold and if I grade it correctly it has AU details.

Unfortunately, it looks as if your coin was once set in jewlery and is damaged. This would drop the value to around $250 most likely.

I used to own one of those very coins, see below.

How much was it worth at such a fine condition?

When I bought it about 6 years ago, $400. Today it is probably worth well over $600, perhaps even $700.
