I'm no student of Spanish notes, but this looks like Spain P-69c, probably $10 or so in good condition if I can extrapolate from my old catalog. I can see the printer as Bradbury Wilkinson (England), but don't know the artist or engraver. There's a name in the lower right corner of the back, but I can't read it in your scan... can you tell what it says?

thanks for your quick reply dave. The small writing in the
Right hand corner of the rev is l.alvarez. pr. The note is in great condition very crisp and bright no pinholes or tears.
Again thanks for time on this. I had logged off for the night as its 10.20 pm here. Dave

That is an excellent place for tourists who want to see the Escorial as a whole. :) The site is called Silla de Felipe II, as mentioned on the note, which means Chair of Philip II. It is a big rock, a few kilometers away from the Escorial, which has some seats "carved" into the stone.

Seems that Philip went there when he wanted to see how the Escorial (the note shows the complex in the background on the right) was constructed, and how far they had gotten. http://100falcons.wordpress.com/2008/12/14/el-escorial/ However, the "chair" may be of pre-Roman origin ...

Very beautiful banknotes, my cousin went out to Spain and brought back a bunch of older banknotes...not for me but for himself!
