I got 'em off Wizard Coin Supplies' web site... they stack alright, but shift easily when sliding out drawers and whatnot when full... Wish they made like, interlocking tubes. Still, not bad for whatever it was I paid for them, something like 12 bucks for 20 of each cents, nickels and halves, not including shipping and a few other things I bought.

That's a crazy high number of wheats, not sure if it beats my best or not... I think my best is what? 82?

Shame you didn't get more early dates.

New to the forum, but I've been reading this thread for a little while. I'm trying to obtain cases of Halves, but it's not that easy around here. Most banks won't order for me, I'm sure if I keep looking I'll find one or two that will.

Did a box of Nickels today, and got NOTHING. Or atleast nothing that my friend and I were looking for. Zero Buffalo, and Zero War. Went through $25 of Pennies, got only about 8 Wheats and a pint full of Pre 1982's ...

Went to a local bank last week and the teller had 12 1965-1970 Halves, great 6 dollar investment. But my friend and I won't stop here, hopefully we can have some kind of outcome this coming wednesday when we do a little trip around here to see what we can find.

Oh, I know, I'm pretty pumped, I've found 3 or so in the last month... after finding 1 in all the searching I did before that... strangely, it coincided with the sharp increase in wheat cent counts from 8-12 a box to ~15-20 a box.

Keep trying, sooner or later you'll have some luck. Do you have a bank that you have an account with? Try and befriend a teller, I think that always helps you get an 'in'. I have a few tellers I'm grooming right now. I don't quite have the cash on hand to have in boxes (been paying off debts) but I will soon, and hopefully the rapport I've developed with a few of the branches I bank with will lead me to being able to order halves. No big deal if I can't though. I'll just find another bank if I really want to go after halves. But I'm not sure how much I will do with halves if I do them at all. HH.

Hey can't beat that. I found one searching a few weeks ago, and 1 metal detecting (my first in this way of hunting), so I got some luck too. Hopefully it continues. Yeah those 15-20 plus wheat boxes are good, even better are the 20+ where it seems you are pulling a wheatie every roll or other roll. And any date I don't yet have is good thing to see too. HH

Yeah I agree. Most of the wheats came from the same spot or person, they have a weird color to them. Could be toning, but it looks more like a chemical, maybe oil, not sure. Once I get some pics, I plan on posting a new thread on em. I'll probably go get another box today, hopefully its got some more of the same group.

I've had good luck getting multiple boxes from the same bank on consecutive days after a big find... Best was when I got back to back boxes of nickels with 14 and 16 buffalo's... good times. Good luck, man... I could use another crazy wheat box like that.

SCORE. I decided to search a box of pennies today for the first time since I have been getting skunked on halves. I don't know what a good amount of wheats for an entire box would be, but I pulled 103 wheats total. I more than doubled my wheat collection in one day, lol. I haven't gone over them with a loop yet, but I will. Unfortunately I am at work now so I'll have to go through them when I get home. What are some good sites for wheat key dates and errors to look for? I really know nothing about them but want to start learning.

Off the top of my head I remember pulling out a 1910 or 11 (pretty worn), several mid 30 "s" are s mints rare or normal?, several mid 20s.

I do know about the 1922 no D, so I made sure and checked for that one last night but no luck.

Anyway, if someone has some good links I would greatly appreciate it. I'll be sure and post up if I find anything interesting when I go back over them.

Wheats all over the place these days...

Found a roll of nickels deep in my desk. Busted it open, out popped a '34-D. Click here to enlarge
