mcrow24, those are great finds! finding a coin over a hundred years old is incredible, let alone 3. I've gone through about 30 boxes of nickels (1500 rolls) and found only 1.
Merc, i'm guessing thats an ender pic from the box with 46 in it? That must have been the sweetest ender.
I haven't searched in awhile, but I just went through a box of nickels, there wasn't much in it, only a 1982 proof that is first proof I've found that isn't beat up, it looks sweet. Also, twice in the last two weeks I've gotten one penny back in change. 1st time it was a 1947, second time it was a 1937... crazy.
Also, clorox - amazing score! When you said you were calling banks, do they always answer? Do they like being called asking if they have halves? I would think about doing that, but it just seems they wouldn't be interesed in someone calling to see if they have coins in.

Thanks. It was pretty exciting, the War Nickel and the 3 V's came in the same roll so it was a pretty stacked roll. I just found out why people like to search rolls, it's the chance that you could pull something really cool. It's the whole opening packs of baseball cards effect from when I was a kid.
Nice finds! The only thing I've found was a 1879 penny in near mint condition at a pawn shop.
Yes. Except with coins you can't lose money. I also speak from experience, it was fun while it lasted, but I try not to think of all the money lost first from pokemon, then magic the gathering, then basketball, then football cards. With coins, I have done slightly better![]()
vtvick: It really depends. Some branches' numbers just send you to an automated system with no hope of actually getting someone in the building on the line. Citibank and B of A are the worst at this, but it varies branch to branch. If an 800 number is listed I don't even bother trying to call. When you do get someone on the line they're usually helpful and will check the vault and with the tellers. I think sometimes the people that answer don't know what a half dollar is. Saying 50 cent piece helps a bit. Getting someone that's not helpful or rude or immediately asks if I have an account is very rare; maybe one in fifty.
YMMV, of course. I have years of experience of answering phones and customer service in a retail environment, which probably helps![]()
good lord mcrow, did you find them all in packs or buy them? you might not have done too bad then, I can't believe how much those old cards go for. what did you do with them, as i'm sure you know those sets are worth many many thousands of dollars each?
