Uncirculated can mean a coin from a roll or set or bag that's never been passed around, so it has never circulated, but it can also refer to a grade. even a coin that has been around for a while can retain the grade quality of "uncirculated", if it hasn't been rubbed, beat up or banged around. usually graded as 60 or higher on the grading number scale (that goes from 0 to 70).
So you are getting about 8 boxes at each of the 5 banks you 'buy' from? Just when I thought I'd seen it all. Well if they aren't hassled by it, all i have to say is wow, because I know I'd do that much and more if any bank would let me. At that rate you will have accumulated all of Bob & Erin's finds in only 6 months.
$400 in dimes - 4 roosies
$20 in CWR halves - 1 '69
Took three years but a TD bank finally got sick of me and cut me off from dumping. Ugh.
finished my box of nickels and found a 1945 S war nick.![]()
Bob
i just experienced a bout of good timing. i was walking through the bank lobby and an older woman came into the bank with a bag full of coin that she wanted to cash in. she had the coin all sorted and labeled, and was getting rid of the extras she no longer needed to "fill her books" as she put it. naturally, i offered to take care of her.
i was trying to kinda keep an eye on the coin as i unrolled it and dumped it into the sorter, and in one roll of nickels, i quickly spotted 4 war nickels. so i snatched them up and kept going. after breaking open a couple rolls of bicentennial quarters, i noticed a roll with a silver on one end. when i opened it, it contained 9 silvers! so i snatched them up as well.
there was also a teller helping sort the coin, and i never got a look at any of the coin she unwrapped. so there may very well be a bunch more inside the counter, and i'll be sure to have a look at all of it when i wrap it up later this afternoon or tomorrow.
tally:
4 war nickels
9 silver quarters (i gave 3 of them to another teller that keeps an eye out for any interesting bills that come through her drawer)
btw, i made sure before she left that the woman didn't want any of the silver back, and she did not. i also purchased the coin from the rolls, instead of just taking it. i'm not trying to rob anybody
to add: found 2 more silver quarters after searching the bag. still to go: dimes and nickels...

WOW! I sure lucked out today! Went in to my bank and asked for three rolls of halves. Got home, unwrapped two and found nothing good. Unwrapped the last one and found a 1964, and three 1967 halves. If the 1964 didn't have any black dots on it, it would be in EXCELLENT condition. It's unfortunate, but hey. I'm happy
Also, these rolls were brown, I believe rolled by a customer maybe...not sure, but I went back to grab more and got skunked by two yellow rolls.
