Can't get rid of the 1 cent piece - that's just crazy. The country would have to re-program or replace every tool utilized in determining the amount of exchange involved in a monetary transaction. Cash registers computing sales tax, Accounting systems computing interest, payroll taxes, the list is endless. The primary purpose of currency and coinage is to facilitate commerce.

I am already facing the expense of replacing all my time clocks come 2007 due to the change in daylight savings time. They are hard coded to automatically adjust their time based on DST as it currently is.
