i played around with some images last night and put together a small collage of 2 front plate images.
the first portrait is from front plate 5, the second is from front plate 4 and the last is front plate 3.
the first thing i noticed is the difference in the engraving and how thick the engraved lines are. All front plate 5 notes look like the fisrt image, all front plate 4 portrait look slike the second image ect. So i dont think its a matter of a particular note getting more or less ink to account for the different 'looks'.
the first image looks shorter and fatter
the second image looks taller and slightly more narrow
the 3rd and last image has eyes that look thinner, almost like he is squnting.
