Definitely agree about the not relying too heavily on magnification. When I started collecting again a couple years ago, I would immediately pull out my 10x loupe and inspect a coin looking for problems and also to show everyone that I knew what I was doing!!! In doing that, I missed the big picture and probably passed on a few decent coins along the way. Now, I just look at the coin for several seconds and only then will I use the loupe on any areas that concern me.
