i guess i am against the crowd on this. To open the section up to anything, invites possible problems. This forum is Ebay. I would rather see folks join the forum for the love of the hobby, and the desire to discuss the hobby. I would not want folks to join for the sake of just another selling venue. We allready get that from some folks. They join and rattle off 10 posts as quick as possible... just so they can advertise as much as possible ... and then they disappear. Seeing that is anoying as it is. Making the forum the next internet flea market would not help the forum grow, or foster the discussions we allready have.
Not that i get your point though. Some time ago, i wanted to do what you are suggesting - I wanted to list non numismatic material. I was going to give it away free and only charge actual shipping. I just wanted to see the item go to someone instead of throwing it away. Then i found out i couldnt. Ok, so i threw the item out.
As much as i see how it might help some folks do what i wanted... get rid of an item they no longer want, for an item they do. But what happens when the item being sold, say a stereo, doesnt work... who is the mediator? Do we then kick the wrong doer of a seller out of the forum for selling a busted stereo? Or do we kick out the buyer becuase they broke the stereo after recieving it because they didnt like the color?? How would a dispute like that be settled?
I just think the open section is a geat place to exchange unwanted items for wanted items. The Coins and currency limitations, while allows the spread of numismatics, keeps the section in line with the purpose of the forum.
