Coin Talk Writing Contest

Hi Everyone,
I'd like to kick off the first Coin Talk writing contest. To encourage people to put their knowledge to paper, and get recognition for their accomplishments, I'm opening up the first writing contest. Each round, I'm going to put up a suggested main topic, and also accept entries from any other numismatic topic in the general category. The main prize will be related to the main topic.

The first topic will be Tokens and the main prize will be the Standard Catalog of U.S. Tokens 1700-1900.

The first round is open to submissions until September 6th.

A few simple rules:
1. Submit an article of between 1,000 and 2,000 words prior to the end of the day on the deadline.
2. All work must be your original writing, and research. Any collaboration or work otherwise borrowed must be attributed and permission must be given by the owner of the work, but the core research must be original.
3. Any photographs or illustrations must be original copyright by the author, or you must obtain permission from the original copyright owner to include it in the article.
4. While you will retain the original copyright for your work, you will assign to Coin Talk the right to publish your work along with the other articles submitted. Coin Talk will give full attribution to the article creators.
5. There will be two winners, one for the main topic, and one for general submissions. The winner of the main topic will win the main prize. There must be at least one submission to the main topic for the main prize to be awarded.
6. This contest is open to all members of Coin Talk, there are no restrictions for age, citizenship, or anything else. Submissions should be in English, however, and may be edited for spelling and grammatical errors.

This is my first try at this guys, and I'm really hoping to stimulate some great research and writing and give everyone the opportunity to really show off their stuff. I'm also open to suggestions on how to run the contest, and especially for the main topic for future rounds. Thanks!
