These used to be available in massive quantities at any show but they are not seen in the numbers they used to be seen. The primary reason is that vast numbers of these have been destroyed by collectors and dealers supplying them. Also some dealers are less likely to carry them to major shows due to their weight and slim profit margins. These have dropped in price recently while the total value of the coins in them has actually increased somewhat. This will result in an increase in the rate of destruction and at least a temporary shortage of them on the market. I've always suspected that there will be a sudden realization among collectors that these sets are almost all gone and then there will be demand for the modern mint and proof sets and issues that aren't included in them will be snapped up to complete collections. The sets will never be rare because there are still sets sitting in closets and the safety deposit boxes of the original purchasers.
I thought he meant proof Silver American Eagles.
