Along with your own library of numismatic publications. Its always a good idea to invest in some good books on the subject.
A Guide book of United States Coins (Red Book)
Cherrypickers Guide to Rare Die Varieties of U.S. Coins
ANA Grading Standards for U.S. Coins or
Photograde, whichever you prefer, or both
Krause Standard Catalog of World Coins or
Any book that focuses on your area of interest. These are just a few of the books that I personally own that I believe are essential.
