| Split Before Strike
Hello,
I am new to coin talk, but have been collecting US coins for over 15 years now. Through the years of collecting US Coins, I have found my fair share of errors. I dont collect errors, and I dont know much about errors, I just set them aside. I do have one in particular that has had me wondering for years now, and I hope, mabye someone might know what it is worth. I know as much as, its a 1944 Wheatie, and the planchet split before the coin was struck. Which means it is half as thick as a normal Wheatie. I know that there are 2 types of split plnachets, Split Before Strike, and Split After Strike. I know the Split after Strike is worth a considerable chunk of change, and I know that the Split Before Strike is worth even more. Other than that, I am clueless. clueless as to how to grade it, and clueless as to what it is worth. Any info would be much appreciated, as I have tried and failed looking it up, many times now.
Thank You,
Dan Pelletier
