Oh, they are huge.
The problem is that government has never been a really good steward of our money (or their own for that matter). Through fat outsourcing deals, I am sure that we will be seeing changes in our coinage for quite some time to come, just so they can continue to run in the black.
Which reminds me - I need to dig up the Treasury dept budget and find out how much of the mint's operating revenue is produced by the sale of their wares. Sounds like a fun Sunday project, eh?
