Thread #04 where I ask the fine members of CoinTalk their opinions on a coin I have already sent to CAC for review.

Going forward, I will dispense with the Polls.

Please let me know what you think, such as:

Will it fail to CAC, and why?
Will it be a green or gold CAC sticker?
What (negative) issues does the coin have?
What positive attributes does the coin have?
Is the strike good or bad?
Is the toning pretty or ugly?
    etc

Up for consideration if a 1925 S$1 Peace Dollar NGC MS64 in NGC5 "No Line Fattie" holder.

Personally, I LOVE the toning on this coin, but I could see other people thinking it has negative eye appeal.

I apologize for my inability to answer your original question and I have no means to hijack your thread but given that I'm not to familiar with peace dollars can anyone explain to me why this coin is not an ms 66 or a grade of the like. The fields appear to be so virgin outside of a few light scratches and I can only detect a few minor hits on the high relief of the figure

If I were to guess, it is lack of amazing luster and the reverse seems a little "gritty". But I am hoping for this to CAC, so I hope you are correct about if being solid or maybe even undergraded.

I don't think this one will sticker. The strike looks less than good and I think there are dings that are being covered by the toning. I also think the "market" will not like this toning. So, my thought is it won't CAC.

However, my personal opinion is I love the toning and I think this is a great coin. I would be proud to own it either way and I think you should be too.

Thank you that makes the grade more blatantly obvious I should have taken a closer look

Easy green sticker on this one, but to get a gold sticker it would have to an A+ 65. My recent CAC submission was 8 for 13. All my silver stickered, gold was 50%. A few that I thought were locks, flunked. If I was to generalize, stone original coins get the benefit of the doubt. Somewhat original surfaces get scrutinized closely. Market graded coins, such as super duper sliders graded as 62, are rejected.

Thanks, your opinion means a lot to me. I know you too submit to CAC.

My own opinion is that it will CAC. Now, some of you may say that is obvious since I'm sending it in, but in reality I have send some coins I expect to NOT sticker.

Sorry it took so long to come back and update the thread, I think I've had this coin back for a month already.

    Passed!

Gorgeous coin, and sold within hours of posting it.
