OK, I get it now. I think the second phase is prettier than the first.

I have ordered many coins from ebay and a similar portuguese site before. Only once I had a problem, and it was because I was too cheap and didn't ask for registered mail. This means that so far, I have always been happy with the coins I received. However, many of the sellers from whom I have bought do not communicate very well, and do not reveal in the auction when the coin is cleaned or not (even when it's visibly so). I do not like that at all. It's hard enough to tell when you have the coin in your hand sometimes, much more so with a picture or a scan. Right now, the only seller I recommend is aspencoins.

The coins are generally well handled and packed, but accidents can always happen. Handsome toad had a thread about it.

    Thanks!

That 8 reales collection sounds awesome. I'm jealous!!

Is the first phase the 10 pesos (if I'm not mistaken) silver coins? And the second phase the bi-metallic?

When I get my coins from e-bay, they are usually inside of a flip, inside of cardboard, on a padded envelope. Why do you ask?

The mexican coins I'd like to have the most are the 8 reales ones I believe I will be able to afford to buy some (in XF or better) if I stick to the last quarter of the century. When I'm rich, I am going to buy one 8 escudos coin! Others are the silver peso from late 19th/ early 20th century. Others I like a lot are the 2 pesos 1921, 5 pesos 1947, 1948, and 1950.

These are my favorites, but they are all beautiful coins in general.

I did not know about this bimetalic state series. I wanna say that some are very beautiful (others not so much, naturally), and the whole series looks amazing. Do you have them all?

My collection is in Portugal (except for the ones I bought this year), but I have most of my silver doubles (the list you have) with me. I brought them last christmas with the intention of selling them.

    Hi

I was just looking at my list. I have only 5 mexican coins I really like mexican coins in general, but right now I was thinking about buying silver ones, crown size. The only two I have are the 1953 5 pesos (don't recall the condition) and the 1968 25 pesos (one of the first coins I bought, 9 years ago, and I think I cleaned it but otherwise the details are very good, XF or even AU). It really bugs me not to have my collection with me...

    Hi

Funny. I came to your profile to tell you I was too busy to reply to your PM right now, and sure enough, one hour later, I'm still on your profile! haha. Boss called

About the doubles, swapping is definitely a possibility, but I have specific interests.

Hello Armijo - I accepted your friend request - why did you pick me? I see that you are an architect. I would think that would be a cool profession. My daughter is studying interior design in college - somewhat related to what you do. Tell me more about the gate that is depicted above on your home page. Where is it and what is its history?

I understand. I'm too getting a little selective. Like right now I'm only concentrating on finishing my Indian and US type sets. But this doesn't mean that I'm not adding any world coins in to my collection; only the volume has decreased. Its good to know that you are into Philately as well. You can join in the discussions of Cointalk Social group 'Philately'. Like you I too was Jack of many trades but now trimmed everything down to numismatics and philately only. Well best of luck with your collection and keep us posted.

    Howdy Armijo,
I started collecting from 1992. It all started with stamps that I found in my shop's drawer and took to mom. She told me that both stamp and coin collecting are interesting hobbies and I never looked back. I collect whatever I can lay my hands on except ancients and proofs. My main focus is 20th century world circulation coinage collection by type. I recently almost finished 1950 to date Republic of India circulation type set with only two more coins to go. You can see more about my collection here:
