Hello there! Looks like it's been over a month since I last posted so I figured it was time to post an update.
Over the Holidays, I visited my family in Maui. Was a great trip and while there I even stopped by one of the island's coin shops. Most of the coins seemed overpriced or average, but there was a 1947 Philippines General MacArthur set that really caught my eye:

Again, took a little break from the coin circuit. Had a nice trip to Texas to visit with some family over the Thanksgiving holiday. Hope you all had a nice Holiday as well.
Now that I'm back in SoCal, I'm back to hunting down some cool coins. Last week, I was pretty successful in finding some nice stuff at the local bid boards.
The coolest item I was able to get was a 1923 BU Peace Dollar which was counterstamped for the Sept. 5-17, 1978 Camp David Peace Summit between
Been a couple of weeks without a blog post. I took a week off from the local bid boards so there just wasn't much to post. However, I was make it to the shops this past week.
On the bid boards this week I noticed quite a bit of Morgan Dollars. Most of them seem to be AU or lower MS grades, MS60-63 for the most part. I'm not really that into Morgans so I don't spend too much time looking at them, but I'll sometimes buy them if they're offered at near silver melt prices and/or if

There were some items in the online catalog that were not imaged, mostly bulk lots, and for those types of lots you really need to see the items in hand before bidding. I'm glad they auction houses offer lot viewing here in SoCal for us collectors who don't travel across country for a coin show. I saw several
I arrived at the show a couple hours before it opened to the public in order to help set up. Set up went pretty smoothly and we had power run to all of the dealer tables well before opening. In total, 29 dealers were at the show and after opening to the public at 10am the show was fairly busy throughout the day. Seemed like the public really came out for the show. I'm sure the youth auction and the gold & silver coin raffle drew in some of the crowd to the show as well.
