Post your photos, information, questions and answers related to Civil War Tokens in this new Group area. There's good reason to become interested in these rarities, since less than one million tokens are believed to exist today. No Civil War Token ws ever minted by a government. All were struck (as opposed to 'minted') by die sinkers working in large cities or small towns around the northern states. Very few Civil War Token were struck for southern concerns. All Civil War Tokens were struck between 1861 and 1865. Some restrikes have been struck from authentic dies, but these are few and rare. The dies are also very rare, but do exist here and there. There are books about Civil War Tokens, but I only have a few. But the internet is loaded with great sources of information, and we can share the links here in a dedicated place.
