New Connecticut 2 dollar bill. Collect all 50 states?

The Monday New Haven Register has what appears to be two news articles describing the new Connecticut 2 dollar bill. The articles cover the back of the front page section and it is well disguised that it is actually an advertisement.

The first news article headline is “Connecticuters scramble to get exclusive state $2 bills”. The 2nd article headline is “Just 48 hours left for local residents to get the only existing Connecticut state $2 bills”. There is a nice color photo of a $2 with Connecticut, S/N, & some buildings overlaid on it. There is another well composed photo of some official looking guy in a blue suit with white shirt & red tie holding the product with some state police officers & a Connecticut flag flying in the background. This 2 dollar bill is newly released by the World Reserve Monetary Exchange.

The exclusive 50 state $2 bills will be very difficult to collect. It has just been announced that the release of the entire $2 Bill CollectionTM has been restricted. Only 1 out of every 1,291 US households will even have a chance to get them all! They have limited the amount you can order to ten orders per household.

They offer four of these “Bills” for $12 plus shipping & handling. This offer was for Connecticut residents only so you will need to check your local papers for similar rip-offs in your state. BTW, I can't determine if they are over-printing real $2 bills of if they are just printing large size funny money which says "play money" on the reverse.

I saw that in my local paper, its B.S., private mint made.

 

Same ad here in Indiana, just for the Indian two dollar bill. And they are real notes just overprinted by the private company, and probably illegal unless the overprinting can be removed. If it can't I would think it comes dangerously close to "making the currency unfit to be reissued" which is illegal.

I didn't bother to read it closely as I recognized it as a scam but I would not be surprised if once they have you hooked with your home state later issues may be more expensive.

I think they're the same ones that sell the "Ballistic $1 Pres rolls" and the safes to keep them in. :rolling: :rolling:

According to our in depth market research here at CT, we see that they have bought full-page newspaper advertising space in California, Indiana, New York, & Connecticut. There are probably about 46 other states from which we have not yet heard.

This is a big advertising bill. Assuming they are not loosing money, then they are putting a lot of these defaced 2 dollar bills into people's hands.

 

I agree. Same as the clad state quarters and painted Obama coins.

A friend of mine at work told me about that, he was pretty excited about it. I felt like the rat that tipped over the punch bowl at the beginning of the party when I told him it was some kind of scam. He was not to be deterred so I did some more research, they do not print on the bills but the bills are encased in a plastic overlay which has the individual states things printed on it. There was no mention of price in the ad I saw, but I heard that the price was 18bucks and shipping charges on top.

I told him that his grandchildren would probably not be able to recoup his initial investment, but I might have told him wrong, who knows they might tap into a market segment and that might have resale value, at least for a while.

I think such a note would be pretty easy to copy the holder it comes in, but they are not printing on the note itself. just on the clear plastic that the note is in, I told him he could go to any bank and ask for 2 dollar bills, or order a strap of them, but he was dubious about that idea.

 

Amazing that any AG of any state would allow such scams. Oh well, there is one born every minute...

It is precicely the same ad that ran in the New Haven Register except that the Connecticut state flag is Photoshop-ed into the picture behind the cops.

If the overprinting is on the plastic then they haven't made the currency unfit to be reissued.

It would be nice to know how many buckets of money they make across the USA with this scam.

This ad was in the back of the Newsweek magazine from last week. Sounds like a scam to me. I wont buy them. In Illinois by the way

Waiting on a flight out of Dallas today, I picked up a copy of the Enquirer someone had left behind. dd: On page 44 &45 was a full two page ad for these bills with big letters "Just 48 hours left..."

 

Two whole pages? WOW I guess it is really paying off for them which is sad because the public is getting taken 'hook, line, and sinker' Too bad somedoesn't take out a one page ad exposing this $2 bill as junk. Takes a lot of loot to do this though.

 

I'd rush out and buy one but really waiting for those new $3 and $4 bills instead. Now those I'd go for. :rolling::goofer:

 

It was here in Knoxville , Tn as well. Looks like a scam to me.
