I found this 1922 Peace Dolar with a die gouge on the reverse side right of the leaves. Is there a VAM for this?
Nice image! That's not a die gouge. It's a clash mark. Unfortunately it's very common. If you look at the obverse of the coin, you can line up the high spot with the clashed area on the reverse. There's a good explanation here for Morgans. Same applies for Peace dollars.
Thanks, I was'nt really thinking clash marks when I was looking at the coin. I bought 10 of these peace dollars several years ago for 13 dollars each. Three of them have this clash mark and all of them grade MS 60 or better.
I posted same question about my 1922 P. I looked at vam world can't find it. My Buddie just pulled a 1922 12A mustache UNC for $36 for local shop. Right in front of me I am very happy for him. I was hoping this was a new VAM.
