box of quarters- 1968 canada, 3x non silver canadian, 1992 england 10p

 

At lunch today:
$200 dollars - 05P
$100 quarters - skunk for everything
$100 dimes - skunk

 

Today at work I found 23 wheats including a 1943 steel cent. That's now my second steel cent found in circulation.

 

Three boxes halves...One 68-d, one proof 1977-s, 13 NIFC.

 

What a find!

I'm walking into a grocery to dump the box of cents I finished last night. I man asks me for bus fare. I'm holding a bucket full of coins. We go to the coinstar and I run about 5 bucks through and give him the ticket. I finish with the rest of my coins (gift card = no fee) and go the the bank next door...

$9 in loose halves... 2 90% kens. Thank you Lord

 

box of nickels - 36 (grungy), 40-D, 40-S, 41-D, 41-S, 44-P, 47-D, 47-S, 49-S, 51, 2x56 & 57.

A surprisingly high number of early S mints for one box.

 

I've had bad luck with pennies the last few days. I've searched perhaps a dozen rolls and have only found a 1946-S.

 

Work finds:
10 wheats and a 1944 canadian cent.

 

loomis box of halves- 1963-D franklin, 2x 90%, 7x 40%, 1x NIFC (another 2012D)
the bank still wont order me boxes, they just had this one laying around in the vault.
whenever i order from the other bank all the rolls have been opened and refolded, even though the box is sealed.
guess this proves Loomis isnt culling silver

 

I think Loomis culling silver is nothing more than a myth. Unless they report publicly that they do this, it is best to take the notion at face value. Also, if they do it is possible that some Loomis processing centers cull silver while others don't.

Case in point is that in December of 2012, I bought about 10 rolls of Loomis dimes in Arizona and I found a silver dime in one of them. This surprised me as I read on here that they cull silver coins. I imagine it would take a lot of costly hardware upgrades to their machinery to be able to detect and filter silver coins.

 

I agree NOS. I think a lot of the people who think loomis is culling silver haven't been searching long enough to have experienced going through SEVERAL boxes before finding any silver.

 

what does NIFC stand for ?

Newbie here- so pardon my ignorance or virginity!

I just started yesterday, always wanted to try this. I was amazed at how difficult it was to actually purchase money. But so far here is what I found.

1 box of nickels-my first buffalo, very worn so can't see date but I could care less. I'm 40 and have not found one my entire life so far. 37 pre-1960 nickels, no wars.

3 boxes of dimes-1 silver dime 1954 d

1 box of pennies- 10 wheats

1 question is there a quicker way to scan nickels? Obviously the buffalo would stand out but as for the pre-1960's? I went 1 by 1 looking at dates.

 

Nope. The best thing about nickels is that you never know what you'll get. Sometimes the circulated war nickels have a darker color than the others but there are a lot of worn nickels that also have a dark hue. I search 2 boxes of nickels per week and always go coin by coin when searching. It takes some time but I've found war nickels, buffalo nickels, v-nickels, canada nickels, other foreign coins. I've even heard of a guy who find a Shield Nickel in a box once.
