I was wondering if any knows about this company located in Freeport Il. I purchsed a 2007 $1 silver eagle that they graded as an MS70. It came with a Certificate of Authenticity and I wonder if it is worth the paper it is printed on. I purchased this before knowing a lot about PCGS and NGC and wonder if I should submit the coin to them to verify the grade. I also could not find anything for the company on the web with NES as that seems to be all about Nintendo. Doh! Any advice will be appreciated.
davestuf Well, how about, feel sorry for the tree that gave his/her life only to be printed with that nonsense. Sorry, but they are just another of the alphabet soup of new graders.
Dave, More than likely your silver eagle is not an-ms70 by PCGS or NGC standards. Even if it were, I believe that both PCGS and NGC will not cross coins in ms-70 holders (I may be off base here).
Unfortunately, the coin is likely not MS-70. I would just enjoy the coin for what it is.....a beautiful American 1 oz. silver piece.
The same seller has over two pages of all the same type coins rated MS70 by NES with certificate of authenticity and this is the web site www.numismaticevaluationservice.com .
I saw the headline and I had hopes. Then he mentioned an ASE and I came back down to earth. There have been two companies by that name The current one is just a basement slabber, third or even fourth tier. The first one was trying to be a legitimite service. They began using a photocertificate in Feb 1986 at the same Long Beach show that PCGS debuted at. by the end of the show NES knew their photocertificates could not compete with the slabs and they closed down. Only 48 NES certificates were issued and I am only sure that at least one of them still exists today. I would love to own one of those 48 issued certificates, preferably with the coin. I do have unissued certificates 49 - 58
