Great ideas! I hope the US Mint comes up with the best decision and it don't costs too much as I know there are many people right here on this forum who are sick and tired of getting over charged by the US Mint. Sure they won't lose any money as they have more customers than us but if all the "true" coin collectors are hating on the US Mint, we will be heard.

 

I like the idea of reverse proofs. I hope they follow through with that.

 

Yay I'm excited. I missed out on the 25 anniversary set so this'll be nice to have.

 

An interesting idea that I would enjoy seeing the mint produce, but I do hope they can keep the offering simple. In the article that Pismo500 linked, mint officials are considering a number of options. I hope they just limit those options to one or two items and also make them affordable to the public. I know a lot of YN's would be on board for this one and it would be a shame if the cost was such that they were priced out of the offering(s).

 

I actually like the 1st alternate idea, where the clad proofs are produced at all mints EXCEPT San Francisco, and then a single 90% Reverse Proof is made at SF, where those normal clad proofs would be made. I think this idea is more unique than four reverse proofs that differ only by their mintmarks. Also if this idea were implemented, and assuming they still made normal and silver proof sets, you could have a P,D,W,S proof clad set of Kennedys, making that unique also. Just my 2c.

 

I think it should be silver regular and reverse proofs. Just 2 coins. Still affordable because it's a small set, but it's silver, so I'll actually be interested.

I'll be buying multiples of each set. The mint's got to be careful not to produce too many, thus making them worthless. I'm thinking of all the bicentennial coinage they did. Hopefully they will limit production on the sets.

No I'm pretty sure I've got it right. I'm tired of the business types whining because the mint don't produce enough rarities so they can make profits in the after market.........

 

I hear more whining of that type from the collector community than the dealer community.

And you can't really blame the mint for all the Bicentennial sets, the legislation passed by Congress REQUIRED them to strike the whole 15 million sets even if there was no demand for them.

Whatever they do end up choosing I hope they mint all the specific set coins in silver as clad sets really don't interest me personally.
