Yeah luck hates me. She's proven that time after time.
Fade - thanks for posting the pics of the burning boxes. I was considering asking what everyone did with their empties. I have a crap tonand don't feel comfortable putting them in the recycling for anyone to see. Now I just need to get a fire pit for the backyard lol.

I rent an apartment... tossed 'em into my trunk and went to my best friends house, his dad told me to bring 'em haha. Good times.

When I do buy a house, I'm going to dig out a nice, big hole, line it with cement and rebar, and make a legit fire pit outta that.

Technically by our HOA we aren't allowed to have fires in our yards but I've got like $5k worth of nickel and cent boxes to get rid of so I'm thinking it would make great kindling. We're putting a patio in this spring and a patio isn't complete without a fire pit so yeah. Logic.

HOA's suck, I'll never buy a home with required membership in one. Good luck, if you can't go that route, you might be able to find a recycling place nearby you can drop it off at.

Yeah unfortunately where I live in MD you can't find a place that doesn't have a HOA. They do absolutely nothing but you still pay them every year. Makes me hella angry. Our nearest recycling center is about 30 miles away on the western side of the county. On the plus side, my 2 year old son loves using the boxes as building blocks. A few more months of this and he will be able to build a pretty nice sized McMansion. :)

I ordered two boxes 2000 coins and only found a few clad proofs. They were brinks so I am guessing they have a way to sort the silver out of them.

    Damaged.

About to go through the 7 boxes I have laying around that I picked up and didn't do yesterday, while I work tonight. Hopefully there's something better than 7 more skunks waiting for me...

I thought it was just damaged too, like a dent when I first saw it on the end. But it doesn't go through to the other side, they protrude on both sides. Also the two on the back are fairly symmetrical. Basically just wondering if I should hold on to it or dump it :)

I've found 3 or 4 like that recently. Fade told me he thought it was damaged from heat. Causes it to warp and form air pockets. Makes sense, since all of the ones I've found like that except for one looked like they had been burned and were black on the outside like yours. I did find one that looked like it was in great shape and had the lumps, it was the only questionable one I've found. I've kept mine so far. I thought they were cool since they were different.

I only find good stuff when it is my first ever box or CWR of whatever coin I'm looking through lol.

I found a Buff and a War in my first ever box of nickels, Found a Merc in my first box of dimes, Found a wheat ender in my first box of pennies, Found some 40% Kennedys in my first roll of CWR halves, and now these Standing Libs/Barbers in my first box of quarters. I think its time to order some big dollar coins! lol. Beginners luck seems to me good.

I havent found much of anything outside the first box except for in nickels.

    10 boxes today and yesterday... 3 40%, 1 AU '54-S Frankie, and a '97-S 90% proof.

Glad this week is done and over with, that was brutal... 2 90% and 9 40% out of 32 boxes. I actually found more proofs, at 13, than silvers this week. Ridiculous.

i just got bored and have no coins to search through so i got the quarters back out i found earlier today. upon looking at one of the barbers(which was very worn) i think it is actually an 1893-s which would make it my oldest coin instead of the nice 1900 barber that was in the same box.

i've been hearing alot recently about lowball coins.... do lowball barber quarters carry a premium at all over melt or are there too many of them since they are older and more circulated than say a lowball kennedy?

Lowball premiums only exist for coins not usually found worn down.

Are any of those dateless SLQ's Type 1's? That means no stars under the eagle on the reverse, if so, get a good pic of it, you might have a 1916 on your hands. Slim chance, but hey... slim is better than none!
