was wondering how i did. the package was "selected at random" but wanted to see if you guys felt i made out good or bad thanks, chris
And the quality of many of the pictures leaves the rest of us as ignorant of the value as you were when you bought it.
Yah it looks like you got a good deal with some nice coins to start your collection. The way the writing is on the 2x2s looks familiar. Did you buy it from fair traders, I've had many good experiences with them.
I think you did alright Though the pic are not fantastic, I like the detail on the indians and the Licolns look like pretty clean examples. If nothing else, the sum of all the numbers on the 2x2's equals $29.40.... so I guess for $25.... C.J.
Looks pretty good for $25. I personally like higher grade coins so I would not have spent $25 for the lot. But if you are pleased with the purchase then you did well.
I would like higher graded coins as well. But figured id give it a shot. I wanted some liberty nickels so thats what made me the most happy
Agreed.... if you aren't an investor then as long as you're happy with your purchase then it was a good deal.
My first nice imvestment will be around income tax time. I cannot afford anything like that at the moment. I think I will be looking to spend about 300 on a nice morgan or something along those lines.
Why 300 on a nice Morgan? I would spend about $60 on a pretty good one. Id save the $300 for a Quarter Eagle.
No specific reason, just a fan of the design. Also I like some capped bust coins but they can be pricey sometimes
Nice set of coins, not sure about the value but if your happy that's what is important. Just a note, but coins are not a good investment and I would strongly urge you to not view the purchase of coins as one. Buy the coin because you want it and treat the money you spend as if you will never see it again, you will be much happier in the long run.
I think it's still fair to say they are an investment. Odds are in 20 years they'll be worth more than they are now. That's better than .05% interest at a bank
I just want to say thank you for posting this. As a person just starting over again with my coin collection, these sorts of lots catch my eye and I've considered them but haven't pulled the trigger on any yet. I really appreciate seeing an example of a lot.
I collect the coins i like not because i want others to agree i got a good deal. There are many on here unless you got a slabed coin will never think the coins you buy are worth anything. Buy what you like and if you are happy then dont worry about what others think. I think you did ok but what i think has little to do with what you like. There is nothing wrong with buying top dollar coins if you can afford them and they make you happy. Its funny but when i go out to find coins i feel a little like those that hunted for gold hopeing to find the big hit and then i come down to the real world and think about how many others there were long before i started looking for them that searched endlessly just to come up short of the mother find. But there is always the feeling you get when you find that target its like pulling the lever on a one arm bandit poker machine you never know what the end results are going to be and no matter what it is it still gives you a thrill like no other. Sorry got carried away.
