While going through some old coins given to me i came across this coin. One side has the words "Non Silba Sed Anthar" which i linked to a solgan of the Ku klux clan. Then on the otherside is a crest of some sort and inside of the crest i can make out the year 1866. Any idea if this is worth anything?

hmmm if it was me I would take and 8 pound sledge hammer to in and smash it until it was unrecognizable and then melt it and sell it for scrap.

ya I'm hoping a bad omen doesn't come over my house for having this coin haha. I forgot to mention in the original post that it isn't made from a metal. It almost feels like a stein plastic, would this decrease the value?

It's Latin, for Not for one's self, but for others. It's missing the rest of the phrase, Deo Vindice, or God will vindicate.

The Klan was founded in 1866, so that year on this piece is not necessarily the year it was made. I doubt anyone would collect these except for members of the KKK.

There are collectors of Klan memorabilia. I don't agree with the Klan's "beliefs" but I do find the tokens and memorabilia interesting. I only know of two books on the subject of Klan tokens and they are both long out of print and rather expensive if you can find them. Being made of plastic rather than metal doesn't matter as long as it is the real thing. There are fantasy Klan tokens out there. It's difficult to get information on the tokens because of the extreme negative attitude most people have toward them. As displayed in this thread. (Often I think Nazi memorabilia is generally more socially acceptable.) So collectors tend to try and keep a low profile.

I`m sure there are plenty of KKK tokens/medals collectors.

It is weird to hear that Nazi memorabilia is more socially acceptable than KKK. Comparing the ideologies and actions, Nazis have left far more heinous trace in history than KKK. If it is indeed the case, maybe it is because Nazis were somewhere out there, overseas, while KKK is a part of US history (and maybe there are US laws against it).

I would keep it and trade it for something that I collect. Figure it this way, you're not promoting the KKK and you didn't make the token. Take advantage of it and get rid of it to your advantage. Just make sure that you don't contribute to anything negative or racial in the process. :thumb:
