http://yardsellr.com/for_sale#!/187...4-pure-white-lustrous--free-shipping--3453172 Granted... the pictures on the listing aren't perfect. I'm thinking a very clean cheek, high luster, great field. $100 may not be too bad.
Sorry but I cannot view that auction. The site apparently requires an account to get past the nag screen and I am not interested in creating an account. Please post a photo of the coin directly on this thread if you can.
No way on earth to tell from that image. I don't know what that website you linked to is, but the "blocked until you register" screen is really obnoxious.
I agree. No way I would be able to grade that coin from that small photo. And we would also need to see the reverse. Sorry.
With 10 years of experience selling on the internet and 50,000 feedback, you think he would be able to take a better photo. He is bluffing, move on!
Sorry folks that yardsellr requires registration before you can simply view an item. I wouldn't have linked it had I known that to be the case. I think I can find a surer bet elsewhere.
Concur--impossible to tell from the photo, and that listing doesn't do the coin a favor. NGC is pretty good on grading Morgans, though. No picture of the reverse, so impossible to tell--that may be the "bad side."
Regarding the comment - "looks MS65" - the reason it looks MS65 when it is only graded MS64 is because it's a '79-S. And the '79, '80, '81 S coins are not graded by the same standards that other date/mint Morgans are graded. Were it another date/mint, maybe it would be graded MS65. But a '79-S would not be.
He wants $100 for a coin that can be had for around $65-$70, has a pop on NGC of just under 35,000 at that grade. I would pass. FYI, you can bypass the forced registration by simply hitting the F5 key to refresh the page.
I was smoking again... Was looking at this the whole time as an 1879 P not S.... At least I didn't forget to get my wife a mothers day present!
Stange site. I went to login, then quit out of that screen, then closed the window, then went back to the OP link and I was logged in? Hmmph! Most of the prices seem like they are on the high side which tells me that experienced coin sellers are using the site to sell their stuff, hopefully, to yard sale shoppers that don;t want to go out on their own.
