Is a premium of 20% really the "best way to invest in gold"? I would prefer a smaller premium for my gold purchases. What makes them "the best gold coins by people you can trust"? Are the coins better than US or Canadian coins? Is the US and Canada less trustworthy when it comes to coins?

Now, if I wanted to coin to collect, that is a different matter. They look pretty low mintage, which should help collectibility.

kinda cool coins but i won't pay a high premium for them. not enough collector base here. as a low premium bullion coin I would get them. If i pay a good premium I go for Saints or Libbys.

Israeli issues are nice but they have high of a premium anyway IMO much easier to grab rarer gold coins at spot in secondary markets :). Yes world gold coins are nice way to invest in gold if you buy them at right price and once in a while you can hit the jackpot (for me it was my panda coin collection :) which i bought at spot 5 years ago and sold at a nice premium)

You know, i gave this some thought, but really, compared to many of the Pert Silver rounds, its not bad at all. I mean, there common Silvers 1 ounces (not the Kooalas) sell for 150 bucks each.

I like the 2007 spouses- if you can get them for around melt. .9999 fine gold and though the mintages are high many were melted. That being said the Israeli issues are beautiful.

Wrong. The best way to invest in gold is to buy a gold etf, GLD

According to their webpage, the premium/discount for the last quarter was average 2-3%. Pay that to get in and then pay again to get out. The premium/discount is determined by

    from http://www.sprottphysicalgoldtrust.com/NetAssetValue.aspx

So is this better? You are still basing trust on someone telling you, the gold is really safe, rather than having it yourself.

In the last 2 years, the premium/discount has been as high as over 20% ( same page)

I wouldn't invest in any precious metal without taking physical delivery.......

[edit] And Ruben? Those coins are beautiful and I would consider purchasing them as collector pieces but the premium's too high (mho) for investment purposes.

I did not know that. I don't actually own PHYS. My brother just always tells me it's a better deal than actual physical gold. Same with PSLV

Actually, as I looked around i realized that for coins, 20% over melt was actually not bad, maybe better than most sources.
