    2 boxes of Halves - 1 x 40%er. Ugh. I need a monster score.

Looks like we had an identical day. Stepping up my ordering next week, going to try and branch out so that I'll be able to get 5-6 boxes a week.

Lol Merc you are hardcore. I don't know if this was mentioned before, but you will someday have to buy a money bin like scrooge mcduck use to have to store all your roll finds.

I got 2 boxes of halves to pick up tomorrow, then going on a road trip up to Madison, Wi, hoping I can find some loose silver halves on the way....I figure I'm due for a nice loose find!

I'm a bloody addict, I won't lie. Shame is, with all the effort I put into it, I'll never be able to equal the finds of, say, the Texans, simply because people around here are more aware as to what constitutes valuable coinage and whatnot... both regular joes and tellers. So naturally, less silver finds its way into circulation.

I should have moved south when I was young and had the chance, haha.

$200 in dimes was a skunk, but the $50 in halves produced 4 40%er's. Yeah I'm deffinantly going in and cleaning that bank out in the morning.

Yep. Those are the most annoying rolls, its just best to split them open and put the left overs in a new roll.

Yup. We get them all the time at work. They're ridiculous to try and open >.<

If you are only dumping halves for instance and there are cents, nickels, etc. in the reject slot...

Lucky enough to find some with 5 or 6 full steps and you have something there. It's difficult to generate those 1960's with those designations, especially coming from rolls. But its happened before!

2 TD boxes of dimes actually produced really well! First had three silvers, second had 4, including a '65 Canadian. Best boxes of dimes from TD in a while. Box of nickels gave up 2 Buff's ('17 and a '37) and not much else.

Huh, I was actually thinking the same exact thing! If you wanna meet up for lunch or something, let me know.
Pulled a '63 with FS not that long ago, that was awesome... but yeah, they're really hard to find. Besides that, I've also got a '40-something with FS, not a war nickel. Tough to find 'em though.

I went through my first box of nickels today. I found 31 pre-'60, 2 candians, and a stupid non-silver '42 D. So no buffalo or silver which sucked, but I took alot out to start a album which was fun. I can't imagine a FS pre-'60 nickel, the nicest one I found was between an AU-MS 59-D, and it might have one line at most, so FS is crazy. I did notice this one random thing with the location of the mint marks on the nickels. I know with pennies the location can change slightly from one year to the next, but with a couple of the nickels I saw, it changed locations within the same year. I only looked at a couple near the end, so maybe all of them are like this, so is this normal? The P is mostly under his hair in the one to the right, and completely not in the one on the left, if this were pennies I would say thats a close and wide P, but I don't know nickels well so you tell me. img389crop.jpg

Got my weekly box from a local bank and asked if they had any extras. They could scrounge up an additional $150 in BWH's.

    Box - Skunk (4th in a row)
150 in BWH's: 1960 Franklin and a 1981 S Proof that is in Fantastic shape. Makes me wonder...what would have happened if they gave me the other box and split the $150 out of the box I actually got.

Merc - Are you finding the halves that you are getting are dirty on the rims? I would have missed that Ben today had I not date checked all my coins. Come to think of it. The 1 coin I've gotten out a box of halves which is about 1 out ever 5 boxes for about 6 weeks...has been filthy with bad edging.

Ace, the Franklin that is my avatar was a gift from my great grandmother, but it's edge isn't white either. I would probably think it was a 40% at best at first glance of the rim if it were in a roll. My guess is that other time as the coins circulate they just get plain ol' dirty. For instance, the few quarters I have found pop out white, and very lustrous. The Kennedy's I have found def looked not CuNi clad, but not white like the quarters which a Franklin half SHOULD have the same coloring. I guess what I am saying is that it must just all depend on how much the coin has bounced around.
