Funny thing happened last night...while searching my box of halves. First roll I pull at 1966 Kennedy (40%). The other 49 rolls...NADA! Has this ever happened to anyone else? Talk about getting all excited and ending with a buzz kill. Either way I was happy as Silver is Silver and beats a Skunk. Also, it had a 1987 P. That makes 3 x 1987's for me.

Today I rolled up through a section of Philly that I used to live in (for the others from the area...Conshy, Roxborough, then down City Line Ave, and by then the banks were closed when I hit Rt. 30).

I found $34 in loose teller halves - All SKUNKS
$80 in CWR - All SKUNKS (Someones dumps ...seen this persons handywork around)

I grabbed two boxes of dimes before the banks I usually get them from close...1 Silver Rosie.

I must have hit at least 35 banks for one Rosie!!! Oh well. On the way home I spotted a Coin Shop and stopped in and grabbed some rolls for my coins and a 2011 ASE for $43.00. I thought that was pretty reasonable.

I've been buying ASE's every couple weeks when I get paid. With my 1st one I got from my Teller for $1 I now have a total of 6 ASE's with a Chinese Panda on it's way (I got that on eBay for $34.00 - free Shipping).

Is anyone else aquiring Silver in this manner besides me and Merc?

Ace, you mean roadtripping? Most people don't really have the time, but I know a few others who do.

2 boxes of nickels; 3 buffs (All dateless? Weird) 2 wars, and a BU '41.
    4 boxes of dimes; 2 Merc's, 3 roosies.

Interesting note about halves; my silver ratio is the same right now as it was last year (Boxes and bags only) but of the silver pulled, I was getting a wee bit under 81% silver clad (40%) last year, and that is up to almost 85% this year. The 90% silver is getting scarcer.

    I'M STILL ALIVE! heh

The last few days have been crazy - The Wife had some emergency legal work to do for a friend of ours a few towns over. Spent the last two days in and out of meetings, writing notices, demand letters, etc. Then I had the task of serving up all this stuff to various nefarious individuals. So, in between all this I got a chance to do some loose hunting. The Wife is out again this AM, and she took the computer that has my spread sheet on it, so I have to give a full accounting later, but had to share this little bit:

I was running around delivering and serving all these papers, so I took all my coin and was dumping bits and pieces of it here and there. I'm stopping in other banks along the way, asking for loose H's. At one bank, the pretty young teller asks me how many I want. (How do you guys respond to this question?) I ask what she has... she's got 12 BWR and 6 CWR, then her manager comes over and asks me if I'd like another 72 CWR. I didn't have the cash on me right then, so I ask them to hold them. I go out to the car with the 12 BWR and 6 CWR; I look through the 6 CWR... 2 x 40%'s! I'm definitely coming back! So, I run the rest of the errands and dump all my coin. I return to the bank, but the manager had left, and the 72 CWR are locked in his drawer. I return first thing yesterday morning, as we had to go back to continue working on this issue with our friend. I get the 72 CWR...

I went through 60 of the rolls last night, still have a dozen more (plus my regular pick-up of 2 boxes H's and 1 box D's, plus a box of nickels I scored). Result:

    17 x 40%; 2 x JFK 64's; and a Frankie! That's one coin every 3 rolls. I really thought these CWR would be someone's dump.

I'll have more to tell later... :)

When they "ask how many do want?" I usually counter with "how many do you have?"

That's what I usually say, but it's not polite to answer a question with a question. ;) Merc, has a nice reply; I'll keep pondering...

BTW, finished the rest of the CWR's - 6 more 40%'s! Very nice haul for that batch; now I need to get more plastic coin tubes. :thumb:

I usually say something similar. Once, when asked how many I want, I said I can take up to "one-fifty" worth. She said "I have well I have $2.00 worth, you just want the $1.50 though?" I had to clarify that I meant $150. Ended up just with two rolls. I don't know why they ask how many you want when they barely have any.

I'm doing some N's waiting for The Wife to get home. Question:

I've been keeping anything 1945 or before; aside from those, which N's should I be keeping and why? All opinions welcome. :)

Three more boxes of dimes, nothing. TD dimes suck now, I remember when I used to get a couple a box. Eight boxes and one silver? Ridiculous.Picked up two boxes of nickels to do though, hopefully they are better.

Merc - funny, I was thinking the same thing. I picked up 2 boxes of Dimes around noon. NOTHING. However, prior to buying them I cashed in and the machine has 4 Silver Rosies in the reject tray.

I cashed in and got another box as the stupid machine seemed to short me about $12.00. This is where I am right on the verge of making a stink, but I figure I've made up more than that with my free silver in the reject bin and I don't want to burn an hour there to get my $12 back.

The 3rd box produced 3 Silver Rosies.

So, in spite of the 2 out of 3 skunks I wound up with 7 Silver Rosies.

Done till I get my box of halves tomorrow.
