Israel made a series of these medals in 1965, commemorating various cities and ancient coins. It's a goodly sized chunk of tombac at 45mm, 40g.

Can anyone spot the curious mistake on this piece?

I have only seen one 1959 Krona a few years back in a PCGS holder but sold on ebay for $138.00 bucks by a dealer on the west coast that seems to sell every thing on ebay for hugh amounts of money.....very fishy if you ask me. Well here is a picture of my new baby.

while the NY Historical Society describes their piece as aluminum

The piece shown below does not have the high-point darkening which is common
to white metal medals and is more of a uniform light grey.

There is a silver version of this coin in Krause but this obviously is not it.

Circa 1650-1550 BC
Diameter: 23 x 16 mm
Obverse: Base engraved with an antelope walking right; palm branches in field. A few minor chips and cracks, otherwise intact, part of greenish-brown glaze remaining, pierced for mounting.

Circa 1650-1550 BC
Diameter: 21 x 15 mm
Obverse: Base engraved with two crocodiles back-to-back. Intact, once glazed, pierced for mounting.

I don't think it gets any better than that. OK ever once in a while I'll have to get a nice silver.

Not especially uncommon with 19th century Mexican coinage, but I haven't seen this sort of flaw before in a relatively modern issue such as this. Has anybody else observed this particular variation?
